Don Bosco secures sixth straight Bergen County boys lacrosse title

MAHWAH - Brady Kushner feels the Don Bosco lacrosse team is nearing its peak, but has not yet reached its full potential.

USA TODAY

Despite earning a signature victory on May 9 by securing a sixth consecutive Bergen County Tournament title, the senior attack believes the program still has room to grow.

“We’re close right now. We’re playing well and riding an eight-game winning streak, but we’re not there yet," Kushner said. "We’re taking it one game at a time and continuing to build. Tonight was an important step.”

Kushner, along with fellow seniors John Devir, and Hudson Villaruel, each scored two goals as second-seeded Don Bosco defeated top-seeded Ridgewood, 8-2, for its sixth straight Bergen County title and eighth overall. The match marked the fourth championship meeting between the teams in the past five years and the sixth in tournament history.
