The courtside comedy continues inRunning Point.
Season 2 of the hit Netflix series starringKate Hudsonpremiered on April 23. In the comedy, Hudson plays Isla Gordon, who takes over as president of the Los Angeles Waves basketball team.
Isla is inspired byJeanie Buss, the real-life president of the Los Angeles Lakers. Hudson previously told PEOPLE in February 2025 that she gravitated toward the role because it is "a much more full,honest portrayalof a woman's life than just the pursuit of love."
"Look, don't get me wrong, I love a rom-com. I love when it's all about the relationships," she said. "But to do a comedy set in such a high-stakes environment that's about family dynamics — to me, [that] is just so much fun."
The "family dynamics" between Isla and her brother Cam (Justin Theroux) — who is the former owner of the Waves — led to a dramatic season 2 finale, setting up what is sure to be a heated third season, if the series returns.

Running Pointhas not officially been renewed for season 3.
When the series premiered in February 2025, it was an immediate hit, leading to a season 2 renewal just a week after its debut, perDeadline.

What wouldRunning Pointseason 3 be about?
The plot for season 3 has not been divulged, but season 2 does end with a shocking twist that sets up a sibling rivalry on the court.
The latest season concludes with Isla's team, the Waves, winning the championship — but their post-win high is short-lived.
The next morning, Isla's brother, Cam, announces that he has partnered with sponsor Al Fleischman (Ken Marino) to bring one of L.A.'s former basketball teams, the Industry, back to the city.
As if the announcement of a new basketball team on the scene wasn't enough of a surprise, it is also revealed that Jay Brown (Jay Ellis), who previously coached the Waves — and was romantically involved with Isla — will be coaching the Industry.
Who would be in the cast ofRunning Pointseason 3?
Season 3 has not been officially announced, so the cast has not been confirmed — but if the series returns, expect Hudson to also be back in her starring role.
