The New York Rangers have fired head coach Peter Laviolette after the team missed the playoffs. Laviolette, 60, helmed the team for two seasons and led them to the Conference Finals last season - along with winning the Presidents' Trophy. However, they slipped this year as they went just 39-36-7 in the regular season, with the Rangers ultimately announcing Laviolette's departure on Saturday afternoon.
