Emma Raducanu loses second-round Madrid Open clash amid British wipeout in Spain - with Katie Boulter and Sonay Kartal knocked out in straight-sets thrashings

After a promising start to the week, Britain's women were brought back down to the crushed red earth of Madrid. First-round wins for Katie Boulter, Sonay Kartal and Emma Raducanu had made it six Brits overall in the second round - a rarity indeed on the clay. But once those three women ran into seeded opposition all were beaten; Boulter thrashed 6-1, 6-2 by French Open finalist Jasmine Paolini and Sonay Kartal going down 6-3, 6-1 to No17 seed Elina Svitolina.
