A Tennessee woman has won $32,000 after she sued her city when she was fined over an 'obscene' political yard sign. Julie Pereira successfully filed a First Amendment suit against the city of Lakeland after officials took offence to her sign reading: 'F*** 'Em Both 2024.' Her neighbors complained and a code enforcement officer issued her a $50-a-day fine for displaying the signage in February, which racked up a total of $427 in fines and other fees.
