Heartbreaking reason quaint beauty spot named 'friendliest town' in US is being shunned by hikers this year
A quaint Northern California town that had become a must see for thousands of hikers traveling through the scenic Pacific Crest Trail, has suddenly been shunned. Etna in Siskiyou County appears to be off the list for California's intrepid trekkers this season. The reason: nearby forest fires which are forcing hikers to reconsider and reroute their journeys altogether. Backpackers would often stop in Etna which had earned the reputation of 'the friendliest town on the trail.
