A man who climbed to the top of a well-known statue needed to be rescued by firefighters on a cherry picker.
The man was filmed clambering to the top of the Eros statue in Piccadilly Circus, London, on Wednesday evening – earlier than apparently deciding to easily scroll by way of his phone.
Police and firefighters raced to the scene and cordoned off the world – and the Tube station was also closed for more than an hour.
But the man didn't seem in the gathering crowds and emergency providers under him, as he continued to take a look at his cellular.
He was seen straddling one of many legs of the Eros statue with a view to maintain his stability.
Firefighters on a cherry picker spoke to the man they usually left the scene at round 8pm – two hours after he made the climb.
A fireplace brigade spokesperson stated: 'Firefighters have been referred to as at 6.12pm to reviews of a person who had climbed a fountain in Piccadilly Circus.
'Two hearth engines have been despatched to the scene and one of many Brigade's 32 metre turntable ladders also attended.
'Crews liaised with Metropolitan Cops before leaving the incident within the care of the Met shortly after 8pm.'
